Gloria Trevisan and Marco Gottardi made heart-rending final phone calls to their families in Italy as they wanted to say goodbye and thank them for all they did for them.
Her fiancé Mr Gottardi tried bravely to play down his fears but the couple eventually admitted smoke was rising around them and they could see the flames coming up the stairs.
A lawyer for their families said their final, unimaginably emotional conversations left their parents with no hope they would survive the blaze.
The couple was architecture graduates. They moved to London three months ago to look for work and were captivated by the views over the capital they enjoyed from their 23rd floor flat.
